About Us

In our community of faith there are some things we want to make sure that everyone understands. These are things we share in common - things we agree on. Some of these things are held loosely and others are essential in defining who we are. Different people in our community will have varying levels of commitment to these beliefs. This is neither good nor bad, just different. Those involved in leadership will clearly be more committed and hold much more tightly to these beliefs. Let's be clear, we value and even build our lives on the beliefs set forth in the following pages but we also understand that our humanness can sometimes get in the way of our desire to follow Jesus and cloud our view of truth. So, as we seek truth together let's ask the author of all truth (God) to give us wisdom

SEGUE Mission

Transitioning from who we are to who we were created to be

SEGUE Vision

Segue will be an organic spiritual community without walls - one that thrives in a culture of honest relationships. We will be much more about being with people where they are than inviting them to be a part of what we're doing. We intend to spend time loving people - wherever they are - And we will be purposeful about walking with them as they live out their God given dreams and become the person they were created to be.

SEGUE Core Values

Beliefs aren't worth much unless they're translated into actions.
Based on what the Bible teaches, and our own experience, we feel very strongly about the following ten practices.

Intimacy
Seeing God as a loving Father who longs for us to know Him and grow in our relationship and commitment to Him. Knowing God through the Holy Spirit, prayer, worship, people and experiences. Experiencing the truth that honesty leads to intimacy and freedom.

Matthew 10:29-31 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

John 8:32 And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

Philippians 4:6 Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

Community
Investing in people through relationships that go beyond the surface to express Christ's love through openness, transparency, true intimacy, real accountability, and meeting needs. In small groups being real, authentic, honest and genuine as we invest in others enabling them to walk out God's dreams and plans for their lives. Loving people (regardless of status, color, beliefs or other factors) into the Kingdom of God.

1 John 5:1-2 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is a child of God. And everyone who loves the Father loves his children, too. We know we love God's children if we love God and obey his commandments.

Hebrews 6:11 Our great desire is that you will keep right on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true.

1 Corinthians 13 . . . There are three things that will endure--faith, hope, and love--and the greatest of these is love.

John 13:34-35 A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.

Acts 2:46-47 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

1 Corinthians 9:22 I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.

Passion
Living with passion: to follow God and to love people. Not allowing mediocrity & the status quo to creep in. Experiencing the heart and presence of God in a celebrative and reflective manner while being sensitive to minister to those in need.

John 4:23-24 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth."

Matthew 22:37-39 Jesus replied, You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important; Love your neighbor as yourself.

Mission
Walking with people who need Jesus in our community and around the world and challenging them to be all God created them to be. Sending people through intentional relationships, missions and church planting.

Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

Luke 15:7 . . . in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

Matthew 28:19-20 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

Luke 5:31 Jesus answered them, "Healthy people don't need a doctor--sick people do."

Empowering
Promoting an atmosphere and opportunities for everyone to develop and use their gifts, talents, and abilities in the most effective manner to glorify God.

1 Peter 4:10 Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms.

1 Corinthians 12:12 The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ.

Giving
Serving God and people with humility as we give the best of our time, effort, money, compassion and love.

Matthew 16:24 . . . If any of you wants to be my follower, you must put aside your selfish ambition, shoulder your cross, and follow me.

Matthew 20:28 For even I, the Son of Man, came here not to be served but to serve others, and to give my life as a ransom for many.

Luke 6:38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

Numbers 18:29 You must present as the Lord's portion the best and holiest part of everything given to you.

Risk
Giving ourselves away for the Kingdom of God and for the purpose of God on this earth regardless of the sacrifices that have to be made and the risks that have to be taken. Showing the world who God is by attempting things that only he can do.

John 5:19-20 Jesus replied, "I assure you, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and tells him everything he is doing, and the Son will do far greater things than healing this man. You will be astonished at what he does.

Innovation
Thinking in new ways and looking at things with fresh eyes. Using creativity and the arts to express the vast beauty and glory of God. Offering relevant contexts that enable people to connect with their Creator on a regular basis.

Isaiah 8:11-13 The LORD has said to me in the strongest terms: "Do not think like everyone else does. Do not be afraid that some plan conceived behind closed doors will be the end of you. Do not fear anything except the LORD Almighty. He alone is the Holy One. If you fear him, you need fear nothing else.

Hebrews 10:24-25 Think of ways to encourage one another to outbursts of love and good deeds. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day of his coming back again is drawing near.

Diversity
Celebrating the rich uniqueness in individuals and intentionally painting a picture of the Kingdom of God through a diverse tapestry that encompasses all ethnic groups.

Revelation 7:9-10 After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white and held palm branches in their hands. And they were shouting with a mighty shout, "Salvation comes from our God on the throne and from the Lamb!"

Change
Marking effectiveness through more and more lives changing and becoming more and more like Jesus Christ. Challenging people to live out the dreams God has put in their hearts and souls. Embracing the changes that are required for this to happen.

2 Corinthians 5:17 . . . those who become Christians become new persons. They are not the same anymore, for the old life is gone. A new life has begun!

Philippians 3:12 I don't mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection! But I keep working toward that day when I will finally be all that Christ Jesus saved me for and wants me to be.

SEGUE Core Beliefs

The following outlines the central tenants of the people of Segue.

God
God, the Great Innovator, invented the world and all its many facets, and this creation reflects him passionately. God has and will forever exist in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three unique persons of God are co-equal, and they each reflect and represent the one true God. God is Three Divine Persons who share one Divine Nature.
Gen. 1:1, 26, 27; Ex 3:14; Ps. 90:2; Matt. 28:19; John8:57, 58; I Pet. 1:2; II Cor. 13:14

The Bible
The Bible delivers God's revelation to us, through human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Bible is inspired by God; therefore, it is the truth without error.
II Tim. 3:15-16; II Pet. 1:20, 21; Ps. 12:6; 119:11,105,140, 142, 144, 151, 160; Prov. 30:5

Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, became man without ceasing to be God. He became fully human yet lived a sinless life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people, by dying on a cross. He physically arose from the dead after three (3) days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven's glory and will return again someday to earth to reign as King of kings, and Lord of lords.
Matt. 1:22, 23; Is. 9:6; Jn. 1:1-5, 14; I Cor. 15:3-8; Rom. 1:3, 4; Acts 1:9-11; I Tim. 6:13-16; Titus 2:11-14

People
People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God's creation; therefore, we are of great value to him. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by a desire to sin, which separates us from God. This separation is a problem that we are unable to remedy ourselves; therefore, revealing need for God.
Gen. 1:26-28; Ps. 8:3-6; Is. 53:6a; 59:1,2; Rom. 3:23

Eternity
People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is Eternal Life. Heaven and Hell are real places.
Matt. 8:11-12; 25:34, 46; John 3:16; 4:13-14; 12:25; Rom. 6:23; Rev. 20:15

The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit exists in a co-equal relationship with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. It is the believer's responsibility to attempt to develop their God-given spiritual gifts, and it's the privilege of every believer to minister according to the gifts and grace of God given to them. Every follower of Jesus has at least one of the following spiritual gifts: prophecy, serving, teaching, encouraging, giving, leading, and mercy.
II Cor. 3:17-18; Jn. 16:7-15; 14:16-17, 25-26; Acts1:8; I Cor. 2:12; 3:16; Gal. 5:25; Eph. 1:13; 5:18; I Cor. 12; Rom. 12; 1 Peter 4:10-11; 1 Cor. 13

Salvation
Salvation is God's free gift to us, but we must accept it. We can never make atonement for our sins by self-improvement or good behavior. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ, God's offer of forgiveness, can one be saved from the penalty of sin. When we turn, by faith, from our self-ruled life to Jesus, we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one makes that decision.
Matt 7:21; Rom. 5:1-2; 6:23; Eph. 2:8-10; John1:12-13; 14:6; Titus 3:4-7; Gal. 3:26-27; Acts 4:12
